Giveaway – If you’re an established book reviewer with a significant readership and would like the opportunity to read and review (without fear or favour) our new edition of THE SNOWING AND GREENING OF THOMAS PASSMORE prior to publication on 1st Oct. 2018, please use our Contact form to provide details of your site.
However, a word of caution: if you’re the type of reader who doesn’t like non-lineal or layered narratives, this book is definitely NOT for you. We have a limited number of Approved Readers Copies in this giveaway, so unfortunately will not be able to send an ARC to everyone who requests one.
First published in 2008 in the UK, the Windeye edition is a new, revised edition under the author’s own imprint and includes chapter head-piece illustrations. It has generous, well-designed pages and an eye-catching cover. A perfect giveaway for discerning reviewers!
THE SNOWING AND GREENING OF THOMAS PASSMORE is a contemporary romance with touches of magic realism. Middle-aged Tom Passmore gets bizarrely sucked back into his past when a family illness calls him back from Australia to Britain, where he decides to search for Kate Hainley, the girl he fell in love with when he was 17. Dreams, memories and the present collide to create a new, life-changing reality in this non-lineal narrative.
Blurb: Something strange is happening to Thomas Passmore. Waking from a warm Australian beach, he finds himself at Heathrow Airport on a winter’s morning, but can’t remember getting there. Haunted by his father’s suicide, his mother’s rejection and by increasingly vivid dreams of Kate Hainley, his first love, Thomas’s bizarre journey takes him into a world where one man’s struggle to live again is as timeless as the battle of the seasons.
A quirky and magical tale of loss, love and learning to live.
We’re delighted to reveal the cover for our new, revised edition of Paul Burman’s The Snowing and Greening of Thomas Passmore (officially on sale from 1st October, 2018). So very pleased by the way the cover design and book design have worked out, with chapter head-piece illustrations too! A very big thanks to @das sasha for the beautiful photo of the tree in snow that forms the central focus and creates the first main layer of the cover, and to @louise.o for the superb leafless tree photo that frames the back cover and adds a note of completion to the design.
Before too long we’ll be seeking reviewers (without fear or favour) and so will be sending out ARCs, so if you’re into non-lineal narrative – contemporary romance with a dose of magic realism – keep an eye out and be ready to DM us on Instagram, Facebook or here.
More work by das sasha can be found on her Facebook page.
Since first being published in the UK ten years ago, The Snowing and Greening of Thomas Passmore has continued to woo readers. Windeye is very happy to now own the rights to this novel and will be releasing a shiny new edition later this year.
The editing is now finished and the book design and cover design is well underway. We’ve just decided to switch each chapter number from words to numerals, accompanied by a series of individually designed head-pieces. This might sound boring to many, but book design excites us at Windeye, as those of you who read Night-night, Sleep Tight might have realised… decent margins, plenty of white space, the absence of fluff and clutter in the front and end pages, and a beautiful cover of course.
What’s important about book design to you? Send us an email or tell us on Instagram.
We’ve been quiet for a while at Windeye, taking a slow break after a colossal few months, and using the time to assess which doors to open and which ones to leave shut for the time-being. But now, with the start of a new year, we’re stepping out into the next part of our adventure.
Windeye author Paul Burman will help celebrate Love Your Bookshop Day at Blarney Books & Art in Port Fairy on Saturday, 12th August. The author of murder mystery Night-night, Sleep Tight will be appearing with authors Steven Conte (The Zookeeper’s War), Tracie Griffith (Redemption) and Matt Neal (Bay of Martyrs – with Tony Black) in what promises to be a lively, humorous and entertaining discussion about books, bookshops and, no doubt, anything and everything else that comes to mind. Keeping the peace as moderator – or stirring things up – will be artist Gareth Colliton.
Of course, there’ll be lots of opportunities to buy books and to browse this wonderful shop and gallery. If you haven’t visited Blarney Books & Art (37 James Street) before, this will be a great opportunity to discover its treasures. Website link above and Facebook page here.
More details to follow, but put it in your calendar now: Saturday, 12th August.
In conjunction with Windeye author, Paul Burman, we’re giving away 5 copies of his suspense novel/psychological thriller, Night-night, Sleep Tight on Goodreads. Available in 19 countries. Open until 27/07/2017. Listed under Suspense @goodreads
Thanks so much to everyone who helped launch Night-night-Sleep Tight and everyone who’s bought the book. Crime mystery/suspense novels seem to go down well. Also thanks to those lovely people who’ve let us know how much they enjoyed getting to know Meg Dapsy and reading her story. Feedback like this makes writing worthwhile.
Word of mouth is certainly what sells books – newspaper reviews have little impact – so if you feel like posting a review on Goodreads and/or Amazon, etc that’d be a tremendous help in reaching a wider audience and selling a few more copies (available with free delivery in Australia from our bookstore or from online sellers/bookstores around the world).
